Design of a single family prototype home for the Living Building Challenge Annual Design Competition. Atka, AK. 2011
Size: 1,200 sf w/ accessory loft of 160 sf

Biobara is a prototype for a home in remote Atka, Alaska (an Aleutian island), developed for the Living Building Challenge annual design competition. The home had to meet strict criteria which included being net zero energy, net zero water, and have very little impact on local habitats. Replacing the government issued post-WWII housing, the modular housing prototype was meant to act as a new, affordable model for building homes on the islands.
